Jernej Polajnar
National Institute of Biology
Jernej Polajnar works as a research associate at the Department of Organisms and Ecosystems Research, National Institute of Biology, where he studies insect behaviour and sensory ecology. His main interests are vibrational communication of hemipteran insects and potential of mechanical vibrations for environment-friendly pest control. As an undergraduate and graduate student, he studied the influence of noise on vibrational communication of stink bugs at the same institute, then did a stint as a post-doc at the Fondazione Edmund Mach in Italy (2013–2015) where he was developing vibrational playback for mating disruption of the American grapevine leafhoppers. He is active as a Wikimedian in his spare time.
