Miha Nemevšek, PhD, is a full-time researcher at the Department of Theoretical Physics at the Jožef Stefan Institute. He is an assistant professor and teaches courses on particle physics and the early universe at the Faculty of Mathematics and physics and at the University of Nova Gorica. After completing his PhD, he was employed as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hamburg and at the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and later at the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. His field of interest is theoretical elementary particle physics. The main theme of his work concerns models that explain neutrino masses, dark matter, baryogenesis, and phase transitions in the early universe. He is interested in predictions of new physics signals at colliders, and together with his colleagues, he proposed several analyses for searches of new physics at the LHC and future colliders. Many predictions are related to Majorana neutrinos, lepton number violation and exotic decays of the Higgs boson. Recently, he has been working on the stability of ground states in quantum field theories and consequential signals, such as baryogenesis and gravitational waves.
